The programs and funding amounts listed are based on the Under Secretary for Memorial Affairs (USMA) best estimates at this time. The Secretary provides information to give potential applicants adequate time to prepare applications. However, potential applicants should note that the Department may cancel some of the competitions listed based on federal funding or continuing resolution.

Award Estimates

The amounts and numbers referenced are advisory and represent the USMA best estimates at this time. The average size of an award is the estimate for a single-year project. We advise you to read the actual individual application notices for these programs or competitions published in the Federal Register.

Procedure for Requesting Reconsideration of Denial of Continuation Award

A grantee under a department discretionary grant program denied a continuation award under 38 C.F.R. Part 38 RIN 2900-AR00 may address a formal letter to the Veterans Legacy Grant Program (VLGP) at the Department of Veterans Affairs in order to request reconsideration of the decision.

1. A request for reconsideration must be submitted in writing to the department official identified in the notice by a date specified in that notice and set forth the grantee's basis for objecting to the decision not to make a grant award and include any relevant supporting documentation.

2. The designated Department official identified in the notice will consider the request for reconsideration and will provide the grantee with a written response to that request. That response will be the Department of Veterans Affairs, National Cemetery Administration final decision on the matter.
